Hi everyone, sorry its been a while since my last post. I’m going to try and post more regularly from now on. While I have been away, however, I have been having the time of my life watching Most Haunted on Netflix.
I’m not usually one for horror films or scary stuff, that’s more Racheal’s area, but my house-mate started watching Most Haunted last week, and I decided to give it a go, and now I am so hooked it’s embarrassing.
Most Haunted is a paranormal reality television series that follows a group of paranormal investigators as they explore haunted buildings all over the UK, trying to make contact with the spirits that supposedly reside there. As someone who is pretty sceptical about this kind of stuff (but still scared out of my mind??? Yeah, I don’t get it either), this show is so enjoyable to watch. I think whether you believe in ghosts or not, its still going to be a fun ride for you.
Part of the reason for that is the format of the show. Usually each episode begins with the team walking through the site during the day, sometimes interviewing locals or building owners for their own anecdotes on what they think haunts the site. After garnering some kind of history of the site, the team then returns that night, turn all the lights off, and go ghost hunting.
The show is obviously very aware of the sceptical nature of the general public, and do what they can to make the investigations “legit”. They have a sceptic that they bring on every mission who makes sure the team consider what other forces, seen or unseen, may be affecting the building. There is also a guy who sets up recording devices to record any voice frequencies that cannot be heard by human ears. This is usually pretty interesting; in the episodes I’ve seen so far its mostly the ‘spirits’ answering yes or no to the questions that the team ask, but there have been a few times where they have said something pretty bone chilling. I won’t spoil it for you though, don’t worry. They also do a lot of talking through Ouija boards, and they are pretty good at showing exactly who is touching the board, and who has their hands on the table etc. Most of the time it is super convincing, and makes my eyes well up with tears of fear. I freaking love it.
The ‘cast’ of the show is pretty entertaining as well. The main presenter Yvette definitely grows on you over time, and a lot of the members of the team are equal parts funny and brave in their investigations. Except Fred, the demonologist. He’s just weird.
Season 2 and 3 are on the Australian Netflix, so I’m sure there are more seasons on the American ones. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, definitely give it a go, and let me know what you think. Already seen it? Also let me know what you think. Seriously, I want to talk about the cute blazers Eammon sometimes wears for no discernible reason.
